Morningside Volunteer Fire Department runs about 3,300 calls on their ambulance alone each year. Oftentimes this means we must respond lights and sirens to quickly get to a person in need of care or that we must transport from a patient’s location to the hospital with lights and sirens to quickly get them higher level care provided by physicians.
Thus, when people get nervous when they see our lights and sirens and slam on the breaks or keep driving, it causes us to lose valuable time which in turn prevents people from getting the care they need.
